 10 Million Worth of Gold Seized at Hyderabad Airport

In one of the most significant hauls in recent times, customs department confiscated 3.3 kilogram of gold which is worth 10 million rupees, from a middle aged man at the Hyderabad International Airport. The man was carrying over two kilograms of gold bars and one kilogram of rhodium polished gold chains.
He landed at the RGIA (Rajiv Gandhi International Airport) at around 7:30 am from a Dubai bound flight AI 952. While walking through the green channel, he was questioned by the Air Intelligence Unit of Hyderabad Customs. The man absolutely denied carrying any form of dutiable goods but based on his suspicious travel pattern to Dubai and personal profile, he was sent for physical frisking. This is when the customs officials found three packets which were concealed in his specially designed double layered underwear.
After opening the packets, the officials found, two gold bars of one kg each and three bars weighing 117 grams each. They also recovered the rhodium polished gold chains weighing 970 grams. The total market value for this amount of gold exceeds 10 million rupees. The man from whom all these items were seized is currently under detention. A senior official has told the media that the man has passed on some crucial information regarding his operators and they are in the process of verifying that information
