Holi celebrations in Australia
Holi Mela 2014 will be held in Melbourne on 16th March, 2014 at Sandown Race Course in Springvale. With surfeit of rides for children and variety of food stalls, this event will certainly be a spectacle and will showcase the true essence of Holi celebrations in Australia. Holika Dahan will take place and will be presided by Pt. Hiren Upadhyay. This will be one of the first Holi Melas in Melbourne where many local talents will be showcased which will be followed by Indo-Pak troupe’s live performance on the stage. The celebrations will start at 11:30 am and will go on till 8:30 pm.
Apart from Melbourne, Werribee Race Course will also be hosting Holi Mela on 9th March, 2014 between 11:00 am to 6:00 pm. The primary attraction will be the performance of renowned Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan who will keep the audience mesmerized with her band. Entry will be via Ballan road for all the guests. Free bus service will be provided from Werribee station and it is an alcohol-free event. Limited free seats have been made available for elderly people and these will be booked on first-come-first-serve basis.
Sydney will also be hosting Holi Mahotsav from 21st-23rd March, 2014 at Tumbalong Park & Chinese Garden Forecourt at Draling Harbour. On 21st March, the celebrations will start from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and 5:30 pm to 7:00 pm. On 22nd and 23rd March, the celebrations will start from 11:00 am in the morning and will go on till 7:00 pm in the evening. As a part of the celebrations, there will be numerous cultural performances along with colour throwing sessions. Merchandize and food stalls will be put up for the guests.
