5 RANBIR KAPOOR’S FILMS THAT HAVE BEEN DELAYED

5 RANBIR KAPOOR’S FILMS THAT HAVE BEEN DELAYED

Ranbir Kapoor is the newest darling of the industry. But lately, he has gone through a dry spell, with no movies in the last one and a half year, even though he has been extremely busy. We look at some of the movies that he has been acting in, but have been postponed due to various reasons.
Even though Ranbir Kapoor was not the main lead in ‘Roy’, the movie was marketed based on his star power, and since the movie has bombed at the box office, Ranbir has suddenly gone from ‘most bankable’ to ‘most unpredictable’. His choice of scripts have come into question recently, and what is more frustrating – not just for the young heartthrob but also to the legions of his fans – is that movie after movie featuring him in the lead have been getting delayed or postponed for various reasons. Here are five such instances.
1. Jagga Jasoos
Directed by Anurag Basu, Jagga Jasoos was originally slated for an August 2015 release, but a clash with Phantom gave it its first push to November 27th. But as of now, the movie may get pushed even further because reports are that Ranbir Kapoor is not happy with some of the scenes in the movie and wants them to be re-shot. Also, Ranbir’s time is likely to be taken up in the near future with promotions for Bombay Velvet, which will mean that dates for Jagga Jasoos will have to suffer.
2. Bombay Velvet
This much-awaited Anurag Kashyap movie was supposed to release last December, but was postponed to avoid a clash with Aamir Khan’s PK. However, in the meantime, Anurag is said to have shown the film’s rough cut to a few of his close friends who did not seem to ‘get’ it. Ranbir himself seems to have been less than impressed watching the rough cut that he asked Kashyap to re-shoot various scenes from the film. Given the amount of long-drawn hype this movie has garnered, there is much riding on its shoulders for both Ranbir and Anurag.
3. Tamasha
Since Shah Rukh Khan and Rohit Shetty are releasing Dilwale in December of this year, Tamasha, along with Bajirao Mastaani, has gone scurrying for a later date to avoid a clash with the Badshah of Bollywood. Imtiaz Ali, the director of the movie, is quite clear in his mind that he does not want to clash with a superstar, even though in the same breath he knows that he is confident about his film. Even if the target audiences are different for both movies, it’s best not to clash with a star.
4. Ayan Mukerji’s superhero flick
This will be the third time Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir Kapoor will work together. At least it will be when the movie releases! It’s a superhero flick which also features Alia Bhatt. However, it might yet shift dates to avoid a clash with Aamir Khan’s Dangal, which is scheduled for a Christmas 2016 release.
5. Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
This one is with Karan Johar, and though KJo can afford not to care about any other releases, the release date of June 3 next year seems to be on collision course with Abhishek Bachchan’s Housefull 3. It is entirely possible, given the kind of friendship Karan Johar has with Abhishek Bachchan, that this movie could be postponed too, to accommodate the junior Bachchan’s release.
