HRITHIK AND SUSSANNE’S DIVORCE: A TIMELINE
As Hrithik Roshan and his wife of thirteen years Sussanne begin their official divorce proceedings, we bring you a timeline of events as they have happened.
2010: Arguably when trouble first started brewing in the Roshan household. While shooting for his movie, ‘Kites’, Hrithik reportedly got unnecessarily close to his co-star Barbara Mori. Though all parties involved in this triangle denied the allegations, sources close to the industry said that there was no smoke without fire. There are also rumours that Sussanne left Hrithik for a period of time during this.
September 2013: Sussanne abruptly walked out of Rakesh Roshan’s 64th birthday party hosted in Blue Sea, Mumbai. Earlier that same year, Sussanne was absent from Ganesh Visarjan celebrations of the Roshan family. Around this time, Hrithik sent out a cryptic message on Twitter that has gathered some meaning in the light of future events. He said, ‘Your life is less about you and more about the people around you!’
November 2013: Sussanne moves out of the Roshan family home along with her kids into her parents’ house. When quizzed about it, the other family members beat around the bush and say that Hrithik and Sussanne were ‘on a break’. (All of us ‘Friends’ fans know what that means.)
December 13, 2013: After days of speculation, the ‘official’ confirmation of the split comes from Hrithik’s Twitter timeline. He said, ‘Sussanne has decided to separate from me and end our 17-year relationship. This is a very trying time for the entire family.’
December 14, 2013: Not taking the usual ‘it’s mutual’ route, Hrithik sent out another tweet that seemed to place the blame for the split squarely on Sussanne. ‘This is my greatest tribute to love,’ he said. ‘Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me my love for her must accomplish that. Unconditional.’
July 28, 2014: Sussanne reportedly asked for a whopping 400 crore from Hrithik as alimony. Though the reports have been rubbished citing that both wife and husband are independently wealthy enough not to worry about money, some tongues are still wagging. For Hrithik’s part, he has taken to Twitter once again to voice his angst. ‘Fabricated news articles. Demeaning my loved ones. Testing my patience,’ he said.
October 31, 2014: The date for the second divorce hearing, during which the separation will be made official. In the first hearing, the custody of the kids, Hrehaan and Hridaan, has been awarded to Sussanne.
We certainly hope that whatever decision the couple takes, it will be in the best interests of their kids.
