 5 FOODS THAT BURN CALORIES

5 FOODS THAT BURN CALORIES

You don’t have to rely just on exercise to burn those calories. There are many foods out there that ignite your metabolism so that they incite your body to burn more calories. Speeding up your body’s natural calorie burn is an often ignored but an incredibly important method to keep your weight in check. Here are the usual suspects.

1. Eggs

The best form of protein that is found in nature is present in eggs. Eggs are a super protein, and they contain all nine of the essential amino acids that your body requires to thrive. It has been repeatedly shown by research that people who have eggs for breakfast feel fuller for longer, and their overall daily caloric consumption is lower than those who don’t. So add a couple of chicken eggs to your breakfast menu.

2. Cinnamon

In addition to smelling great, cinnamon is a fat-burning powerhouse that boosts metabolism and also prevents your body’s absorption of glucose so that your blood stays clear of excess sugar. There is an anti-inflammatory agent to cinnamon that counteracts the effects of obesity. Adding a dash of cinnamon to your daily cup of coffee will also slow gastric emptying, and will stabilise blood sugar levels.

3. Berries

Berries contain compounds called polyphenols, which fight diseases and provide many cardiovascular benefits. These effects are particularly notable in cranberries, strawberries and blueberries. You can either eat berries as an evening snack if you like the taste or you can make a smoothie for yourself and drink the juice. Either way, make berries part of your daily diet.

4. Ginger

Often, ginger is called the universal remedy. Consuming ginger has anti-inflammatory and stimulating effects on the intestinal tract. The spice eases hunger, increases fat burn, and can be used as a remedy for a host of digestive complaints including constipation and bloating. Add a little ginger to your stir-fry for a spicy touch to your food, or you can make ginger tea an evening ritual in your house.

5. Avocado

Have one avocado a day and keep the hunger pangs away for five hours after eating. It will also increase your overall levels of satisfaction. Avocado contains a lot of fibre besides being rich in protein, so this is one calorie buster you cannot ignore.
