Karva Chauth Celebrations of Priyanka Chopra: A Look

The ‘desi girl’ wants her wedding to be a mix of traditionalism and modernism. In the spirit of holding on to her cultural traditions, she may have even kept a fast on Karva Chauth for Nick Jonas this year. Karva Chauth is observed annually in India and requires wives to maintain a day-long fast for the well-being of their husbands.
The fast begins from daybreak and is continued till the Moon appears in the evening. After that, it is customary for the woman to view the Moon or its reflection through a dupatta or a sieve. The Moon deity is then offered water. The husband gives it to the wife to drink once the ritual is over breaking the fast. It is a festive occasion that falls between Dusshera and Diwali which are the two major festivals in India.
Priyanka began her day by wishing all her followers on Twitter. She wrote a simple wish to everyone who would be celebrating and hoped that the Moon would symbolise a lifetime of togetherness that day. However, what captured fans’ attention was the Instagram story she posted later in the day.
The picture was that of a blurred New York skyline. While the aesthetic appeal of the picture was enough to interest fans, the caption, “Chand Chupa Badal Mein” suggested that she had also celebrated the occasion. If so, this was her first Karva Chauth with Nick. We hope that there will be many more to come in the future.
The wedding is just around the corner. It will be a three-day affair and will commence on November 30. They will stick to traditional rituals that will bind them in holy matrimony.
Preparations are in full swing. Parineeti Chopra has already begun planning the ‘Joota Chupai’ ritual. She will steal Nick’s shoes, as according to the age-old tradition.
