Facebook all set to acquire WhatsApp for a staggering $19 billion
It seems that the rage of mobile-messaging start-up WhatsApp has raised the eyebrows of Facebook Inc. As per the latest reports, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg has publicly announced that they are all set to rope WhatsApp into their team at a stipulated price of $19 billion out of which $16 billion will be paid in cash while the remaining will be in the form of stocks.
Apparently, many keen observers of Silicon Valley are stunned with this new acquisition especially because of the hefty price tag that it carries. Presently, WhatsApp has a user base of over 450 million people from all corners of the world out of which a majority are young people. Messaging has always been an indispensable utility especially in the era of mobile technology which is one of the primary reasons why Facebook has always been keen to rope WhatsApp into its squad. WhatsApp will be assisted by Morgan Stanley for the deal whereas Facebook will be advised by Allen & Co.
