How to throw New Year Party On Short Notice…

We can all agree that 2021 was an uphill battle that affected everyone, but we can hope for things to get better with the arrival of the new year. Speaking of which, you must have been busy the whole month planning for the christmas and holidays, hence planning a new year’s eve on short notice could be a daunting task.

Throwing a huge party is not an option to minimise the risk of transmission. Especially when we can see that there is a surge in the Covid cases due to the new variant of concern, “Omicron”. Nonetheless, that does not mean we cannot celebrate.

You can certainly organise a small gathering with a limited number of friends and family. But, in case you have tried planning that and could not come with any ideas then, look no further. Here are some of the best tips to organise a party to welcome the new year.

How about a game!

Starting a party with a game is the best way to get into the celebratory spirit. There are plenty of them to choose from; apart from the traditional board games like scrabble, you can also opt for Pictionary or charades.

If board games are not your thing, then you can turn it up a notch by starting a drinking game. For example, you can print cards with “drink if” statements such as drink if you have ever eaten a bug.

The truth and dare game is a hit amongst people at the party; you can also opt for that.

Take a look back

Before jumping into any activity, a real heart to heart conversation with your friends and family is much more enriching. You can start by writing down the names of all the people attending the party and dropping it in a bowl. Then, whoever comes up first can share how the year was for them. Furthermore, they can highlight any one event that impacted their lives. Also, since it is a game, there is no compulsion to share unless they feel comfortable.

Party food

Food is often something that people talk about long after leaving the party. Hence at times, it could be a little daunting to prepare. Especially when you have to do it all by yourself, and you don’t know what to cook.

You do not have to stress making elaborate dinner preparations; delicious party snacks would suffice. Some excellent examples include beef and raisin empanadas, fritters, sweet and spicy coated nuts, tomato-manchego tartlets, artichoke dips, nachos with salsa.

Mix it up with drinks

What’s a party without alcohol, right? You can make an assortment of cocktails by mixing different drinks.

You can go for classic cocktails like bloody mary, blue lagoon, bellini, cosmopolitan, mai tai, etc. also, and there are other vodka-based drinks that you can whisk up in a short time.

Dance it out

When the evening progresses into the night, you need to keep the party going by turning it up, and there is no better way to do that than some music. Spotify has a feature that enables you to edit a playlist, so each of your guests can add whatever song they want to hear.

You can also start some EDM music and begin a dance party. I am sure no one is going to say no to that.

Zoom party

People who are extra cautious and prefer to host a remote zoom party can enjoy as much as any in-person celebration. Sometimes friends cannot travel as well so that should not also come in the way of celebrating.

You can ask all your friends to attend the zoom call simultaneously with each having their drinks, you being the host, can add the music from your end.

You can proceed with any of the above activities as those can be played virtually.
