Spicy Garlic Shrimp

 Spicy Garlic Shrimp

Garlic is one of those ingredients which can transform the aroma of any preparation, even if it is the simplest of recipes. The combination of Shrimps and garlic, rolled into this simple recipe promises to produce a scrumptious starter.
A chef once said to me that cooking a meal is like a journey which starts with a visual of how you want the final product to be, all that follows are steps you take to bring that visual to life. Once you visualise this delectable treat, you would want to quickly get your hands on its ingredients.
Picking Them Out
To make this recipe perfectly, you would need good quality shrimps. It is important that you pay particular attention towards buying the right amount and quality of shrimps. There are two varieties of shrimps available in the market, fresh and frozen. If you can get fresh shrimps, there is nothing like it. Just be sure that the ones you are buying do not have black spots on their shells and that they don’t appear paler than usual. It is best to buy whole shrimps; you can later peel and devein them on your own. If buying fresh shrimps sounds like too much of a task to you, you can rely on the frozen ones, just make sure they are loose in the pack and are not stuck together like a block.
The size of shrimps is vital, especially in this recipe. If you are getting them fresh from the market, get the ‘jumbo’ size. But if you are buying frozen and you can’t figure out the size of them, just take a standard weight pack and see which one has a lesser count of shrimps in it. Remember to keep their tails intact for this particular preparation.
Note – This recipe serves 2 people and will need around 15 minutes to get ready.
Ingredients
10 – 12 Jumbo sized shrimps with tails (Peeled, Deveined)
4 – 5 Garlic cloves crushed
2 tablespoons of olive oil/butter
1 teaspoon of steak seasoning
½ teaspoon red chilli flakes

1 teaspoon lemon zest
1 tablespoon chopped parsley
Method of Preparation –

• Add crushed garlic and chilli flakes to the oil
• As soon as you see the garlic turn golden, add shrimps. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

• Add lemon juice, lemon zest and half of the finely chopped parsley
• Give it a generous toss and remove from pan
