Where You Should Take Your Next Trip According to Your Favourite Bollywood Character

With Bollywood stars and the characters they play becoming ingrained into our lifestyle and culture, we often find ourselves wondering what our favourites would do in our situation. With this in mind, why not plan your next holiday destination around where Bollywood characters would travel?

Aisha from Aisha – Milan and Tokyo

This movie’s title star Aisha is all about living that lavish lifestyle. With her love of designer outfits, we just know that Aisha would want to travel in style and visit somewhere filled with fashionistas and luxury. If you are like Aisha and fond of romance, makeovers, and all things fashion, these places will suit you down to a tee.

There are tonnes of fashion capitals we are sure Aisha would love (Paris and New York to name just two), but chances are she’s already seen half of them. So we think she would enjoy visiting the cosmopolitan cities of Milan and Tokyo.

Milan is, of course, home to Fashion Week, which falls twice a year in February/March and September/October. We are sure this is when Aisha would visit. While here, shopaholics should also definitely visit Quadrilatero d’Oro, the world’s most famous shopping district. The district oozes glamour and sophistication, you can practically smell the money, so we are sure that the South Delhi girl would fit right in.

For somewhere a bit more adventurous in the style stakes, Tokyo is the place to be. Japanese style is very experimental and ahead of the curve. Those wishing to be a fashion setter, not a follower, should visit Shinjuku, Ginza, and Harajuku when touring Tokyo.

Aakash from Dil Chahta Hai – New Zealand

Fun-loving and spontaneous Aakash would have no issues with taking a last-minute trip for an unexpected adventure. We think nearby New Zealand would be ideal for the Australian resident. Not only is it only a short flight away, but there are also tonnes of things to do there that we know Aakash would love.

Aakash is definitely brave (or foolish!) enough to try all of the adrenaline-junkie activities New Zealand has to offer. Aakash could try bungee jumping, waterfall canyoning, sky jumping from the 328 metre high Sky Tower, or even skydiving from a plane here! With so many new things to try, we are sure thrill-seeking Aakash would love it in NZ.

Geet from Jab We Met – Bhagsu and McLeod Ganj

We don’t think Geet would even need to leave India to have a fantastic trip. Kareena Kapoor Khan made us all fall in love with the sharp-witted and loveable Geet. As any fans of the film know, Geet loves the mountains. Therefore, we think her ideal holiday destination would be none other than McLeod Ganj and Bhagsu.

McLeod Ganj is located near to Dharamshala and is known for its Tibetan population – including the residence of the Dalai Lama, many temples, beautiful natural mountains, waterfalls, and lakes. We think the relaxed Buddist vibe would help to calm bubbly Geet, but the presence of the many backpackers to talk to would prevent her from getting too bored either!

Visit nearby Bhagsu for an even more relaxed vibe. Visitors to Bhagsu can enjoy the many lovely places to shop for souvenirs and delicious local food. While here, it is a must to hike up the mountains to dive into the bracing waterfall there before heading up further to the Shiva temple.

Auro from Paa – Washington DC and Rome

Amitabh Bachchan did an incredible job of portraying the young Auro who suffers from progeria, a rare genetic disorder that causes sufferers to experience signs of aging from childhood. Brave Auro is an inspiration in the film; when he wins the ‘Visionary of India’ competition, he asks to visit Rashtrapati Bhavan as his prize. Because of Auro’s interest in history and politics, we think Washington DC and Rome would be ideal places for him to visit.

Washington DC is home to the White House, so we are sure that Auro would find this city fascinating to visit. Especially to see the difference between where the American President lives compared to the Indian President. There are also several other significant political monuments we are sure Auro would love to see and learn more about in Washington DC.

Rome is also an excellent place for any curious mind. There are so many impressive historic buildings to explore, such as The Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon. Auro would surely love hearing about Rome’s rich history, which he could also do by visiting one of the many museums in the city.

Manjulika from Bhool Bhulaiya – UK

Vidya Balan’s portrayal of Manjulika’s spirit gave everyone nightmares; just thinking about her gives us the shivers! What better place for a ghost to visit than the UK and its many haunted castles? We think Manjulika would feel right at home in one of these:

Tutbury Castle in Staffordshire – not only is the castle said to be haunted; the entire village is as well. Ideal for our holidaying spirit so they are not cooped up indoors the whole time and, with an entire village of ghosts to befriend, Manjulika wouldn’t be lonely.

Leap Castle in Ireland – rumoured to be the most haunted place in the world, the still-living owner of this place is surprisingly welcoming to his visiting apparitions, believing they have just as much of a right to live there as he does! Perhaps Manjulika will feel so at home here she won’t return to terrify us!

Jai and Veeru from Sholay – Bali and Canada

We couldn’t talk about only one of the characters from the smash-hit movie Sholay. After all, they would be unlikely to travel without their best friend by their side! Because of their differences, the duo would need to find a place that appeals to both of their natures. Somewhere that is not only fun and upbeat for Veeru, but also more reflective and serene for Jai.

Bali and Canada, whilst very different locations, have these elements. Both countries have beautiful scenery to enjoy as well as loads of exciting new activities to try. The combination of their two natures would also mean that hopefully, the friends can learn from one another on the trip, with Jai coming out of his shell a bit and Veeru taking time to reflect on the natural beauty around him.
