 5 MUCH AWAITED BOLLYWOOD SEQUELS

Sequels and franchises are now as much a part of Bollywood as anything else. Dhoom, Dabangg, Don – you name it. In this article, we give you a heads-up on what is coming up in 2015 when it comes to sequels.

In Bollywood in particular, and in the movie world in general, there seems to be an obsession with sequels and series. The reasons are simple: with a new concept and story, producers are taking a risk because they don’t know if it will be accepted by viewers or not. But with a sequel, you’re working in tried-and-tested territory, so it will most likely work, and the risk of failure is lower.
Here are five sequels that we’re eagerly awaiting.
1. Andaz Apna Apna
This is now a cult classic, and everyone seems to be in love with the movie. The chemistry between Salman and Aamir in this movie has won many hearts. This was a time before star culture arrived in Bollywood, so the performances are also very journeyman and lovable. However, nothing has been confirmed about a sequel, though questions have been asked. Salman said that he and Aamir will have to play fathers if they do make a sequel, to which Aamir replied: ‘Ranbir and Imran can play our fathers now!’
2. Judwaa
Salman Khan’s dual role in Judwaa was much appreciated, and for a time, talks of Judwaa 2 did the rounds in tinsel town. The names of Saif Ali Khan and Sonakshi Sinha were also floated as possible lead actors. But the fans of Salman Khan must be pining for their star to appear in another dual role. However, there are fears among some that one movie may not be big enough to handle two Salman Khans. The original starred Karishma Kapoor and Rambha opposite the Dabangg star.
3. Mr India
Who can forget the original invisible man of India, and that steaming rain song which Sridevi lit up in her scorching blue sari? There are definite plans of making Mr India 2, which Boney Kapoor is reportedly going to work on after he finishes his current assignment. When Sridevi was asked whether she will be part of it, she said, ‘Of course I am going to be part of Mr India 2.’ However, the big question is who will essay the role of Mogambo, originally played by the late Amrish Puri.
4. Dabangg
The successful Dabangg franchise is all set to roll into the future with the third instalment. Salman Khan entertained his fans to the hilt with both the first two films, and it is rumoured that he and Arbaaz are excited about Dabangg 3. Salman has confirmed this news when he said that the script was in development, and that Sonakshi Sinha will be part of the film. The Chulbul Pandey juggernaut just refuses to slow down, let alone stop.
5. No Entry
The sequel to the movie of three husbands and wives, ‘No Entry’, is being called ‘No Entry Mein Entry’. Boney Kapoor is producing this movie, just like he did with the first version. In this movie, Salman Khan, Anil Kapoor and Fardeen Khan will reprise their roles, but each of them will have a dual role. A bit like Humshakals, but with bigger stars. The movie is set to be released sometime in 2015, and it promises to be a fun caper like its predecessor.
