 NEW PREMIER MEETS WITH INDIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER

Premier of Victoria, the Hon Daniel Andrews, had a wide-ranging discussion with the Hon Biren Nanda, the outgoing High Commissioner of India.
The Consul General of India in Melbourne, Ms Manika Jain, and Adviser to the Premier, Mr Jasvinder Sidhu, were also present at the meeting.
Mr Andrews and the High Commissioner recognise India and Victoria’s long-standing economic ties and historic friendship.
Mr Andrews spoke about establishing partnerships in art, education, culture and research, and suggested smaller, more specialised and more frequent trade missions to India.
Mr Andrews stressed the importance of the Victorian Government’s inbound trade missions. The recent visit of Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, was a key point of discussion.
The High Commissioner spoke about how Victorian businesses can expand their operations in waste management, food technology, basic infrastructure, shipping and components manufacturing.
